For those of you that are not aware VFD is the proud owner of “Old Betsy”. Old Betsy is a symbolic image of VFD and demonstrates history and pride. Old Betsy was the creation of a former council member and shows its pride in parades and dog and pony events for the public. Good, now that I educated you and cleaned the vomit out of my mouth, let me shed some light on current issues with Old Betsy. This week someone with the city authorized 10,000 dollars from the general fund to fix Old Betsy. That’s 10 F-ing K. Old Betsy is maybe worth 5 thousand dollars if that, and has no practical use once so ever. Not sick to your stomach yet? Get this shit. The very same former council member who created Old Betsy, and I emphasize former, makes weekly trips to the Venice Fire station and takes Old Betsy on joy rides. So now we have an unauthorized non-employee operating a city vehicle for their leisure and pleasure on your dime. Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself and city council in their ultimate quest to cut the budget and save tax payers money just let this one slip by, #$@$%#<, excuse me, I puked in my mouth again….
